Podcasts vs Traditional Radio

Omelete Nights
Episode #45 - 35:56”
This podcast is different from traditional radio for many reasons.
First because it has no commercials.
Second because they don’t have a constant time period/limit.
Third because they are allowed to curse, and they do it a lot. They have a very friendly conversation with each other, it’s not a radio show, it’s a friends conversation.
And fourth because the topics are super random and sometimes nonsense. On this episode they talked about body membranes, band-aids, politics, voice over, the colossal squid, and the movie Ant-Man.
They are a website about entertainment, and mainly “geek” subjects like, comic books, video games, and movies. Even though, on this podcast, the least talked subject was the movie Ant-man. But I still loved the episode, they are always funny and they make every topic enjoyable, even politics, which I hate.
One similarity with traditional radio I think it’s that the podcast is as “professionally” recorded as a radio show would be, the quality is great and they even have a short introduction with music at the beginning.

S04E18 - Terminator Genisys Review - 26:58”
This podcast is different from traditional radio for many of the same reasons as the last one.
There is no commercial.
They curse a lot in it, and they talk the way they want during the program. One interrupts the other, they discuss things in a kind of messy way, and everybody gives their opinion even though some of they are nonsense. It’s like just listening to friends talk about something, it’s a very “personal” type of conversation.
Again, the time of the show is not “conventional” like a radio show.
Another difference from a traditional radio show is that the topic is very specific, something that we would never find in a traditional radio show.
I like this episode because they gave MANY different views and opinions about the movie, conspiracies, and assumptions. They gave a great review because I’m sure that anybody would agree with them in at least one point.

Pop Culture Happy Hour
The Giant Foam Finger: Is Winning Everything? - 10:41”
This podcast also differentiate from traditional radio because the use of curse language.
There are no commercials in this podcast either.
It has a “weird” time period of 10 minutes, which is not common on radio shows.
They talk about a specific topics during the whole time, which is also something not usually done on traditional radio shows.
It also differentiate from traditional radio because of the fact that it is not live.
Different from a traditional radio show, I bet that this podcast was not expensive to be produced, there are only two guys talking about a topic during 10 minutes. The quality is good but nowadays we don’t need a lot of expensive tools to have a good quality recording.
